A list of commonly asked questions about B4B asked and answered.

How are children chosen for the programmme?
All health professionals, who are part of the B4B team, assess each child at their visit to see if they come within the criteria to join the programme. They are looking to see if the child has access to children’s books i.e. whether there are books in the home or the family uses a local library. If the health professional determines that books are not available, the child is enrolled immediately.
Are the books on loan?
The books are given to the child as a personal gift. Each book has a label on the back indicating that it has been presented by Books for Babes and a space for the child’s name.
Where does Books for Babes get their books?
All books are purchased new by the Books for Babes Trust. It has always been their policy to give only new books. Many of the family’s who are part of B4B live in a ‘hand-me-down’ culture and the Trust believes that it is essential that the children in the programme be given quality new books.
